To all you dedicated knitters, we know that classes have been complicated over the past few years so we are getting all the kinks worked out and jumping in for a new season of fresh knitting ideas. First of all there are some new class rules: All classes are prepay and you will only get a refund if you cancel 3 business days in advance. This will help keep your knitting teachers happy so you get to keep learning fun new skills! Also there is a five person class maximum and a two person class minimum. If your class is cancelled as a result of not meeting the minimum, you will get a full refund.
IN THE EVENT OF BAD WEATHER..... if Springfield public schools cancel due to bad weather, so do we.
Here are the classes we have set up this far…keep checking the board for updates though because we reserve the right to get so excited about a new project that we throw in a new class or five!
Beginning knitting with Maddi.
In this class you will learn the basic how tos of knitting. You will leave the class having learned how to cast on and knit a basic scarf or dishcloth. If you would like to purchase
supplies before your class, you are welcome to. If you prefer to bring your own, please stick to a basic yarn with no fuzzes, furs, or chunks in it, as well as a pair of knitting needles that aren't considered
antique.
The cost is $15 plus the cost of supplies.
Class times: Sep. 9th 6-7 pm, Sep. 20th 9-10 am, Oct. 7th 6-7 pm, & Nov. 1st 9-10 am.
Socks on Double Pointed Needles wtih Jill.
This is one of the best classes you can take as a knitter. You will learn how to knit a pair of socks in this three-part
class and have a ton of fun while you do it! You need to already know how to knit and purl and we prefer that you can knit a hat on circular needles. You need double pointed needles, 100 g
of sock yarn, and a sock pattern (you must purchase the pattern for the class).
The cost is $30 plus the cost of supplies.
Class times: #1 Sep. 6th, 20th, & Oct. 4th 10:30-12:30. #2 Oct. 6th, 25th, & Nov. 1st 10:30-12:30.
Toe Up Socks with Sarah.
Sarah is our favorite blogger around here and she is making her teaching debut with a great two-part class for toe up socks. You will learn the magic loop method of making socks with this class
as well because she uses circular needles instead of DPN’s. You need to bring circular needles that match the gauge of your sock yarn that are 32” or longer. You also need 100g of your preferred
sock yarn. This class will fill up quick so you need to reserve your spot!
The cost is $30 plus the cost of supplies.
Class times: #1 Sep. 4th& 25th 6-7:30pm. #2 Oct. 11th & 25th 10:30-12:30.
Easy Crocheted Baby Blanket with Jill.
This is a fun new class that we discovered at market. This company makes fleece baby blankets that you can personalize with your own crocheted edge. If you are interested in learning to
crochet, this is a great starter class without a huge commitment. Jill is excited to teach crochet techniques and you will end up with a great blanket to keep or give as a gift. The kits are limited
to five for this season so this class is your one and only chance!
Cost is $45 and includes the blanket supplies.
Class times: Oct. 11th 1-3 pm, Oct 25th 1-3 pm.
Scrap Class with Maddi.
This is a good class to take if your yarn stash is taking over your house. Maddi has come up with some easy patterns to use on your scraps. You need to bring about ten balls of stash yarn
that have at least 10 yards left. As a class, we will match up the colors and decide on some projects to get done just in time for Christmas gifts! Make sure to bring some spare needles so that
you don’t have to buy any duplicates during the class period
Cost is $20 plus supplies.
Class times: Oct.14th 6-7:30 pm, Nov.8th 9-10:30 am.
Get Organized!
This is a fun new class that was designed just for all the ladies that come into the shop with their yarn in knots and their needles tangled together. This is not a new skill class; instead,
you are simply paying for supplies. During class you will receive a fabric needle holder as well as an inventory card for quick access to your stash at home. Classmates can also use this time
to share creative ideas for yarn storage. Bring all of the needles you can fit into a paper bag (or however else you cleverly want to store them) and head to class for a fun time of getting
organized together.
Cost for the products in this class is $20.
Class times: Nov. 6th 6-7pm.
